안동시는 104주년 3․1절을 맞아 웅부공원과 구안동역사를 연결하는 도로인 영가로에 독립운동의 성지 안동의 명성을 되살릴 '영가로365 태극기거리'를 조성했다고 밝혔다.
과거와 현재를 잇는 길, 안동의 옛 이름인 영가로에 배너형 태극기가 상시로 휘날리고 태극기 바람개비가 돌아 시민들과 관광객들에게 볼거리를 선사하고 있다는 설명이다.
태극기 물결로 가득한 영가로 한가운데 서면 싹 트는 봄이지만 일제치하 꽁꽁 얼어붙었을 차디찬 계절 속, 역사의 아픔을 딛고 희망을 노래했을 만세시위 현장을 상상해볼 수 있다는 것이다.
안동시는 고난과 희망의 역사는 영가로 시작점에 있는 웅부공원에서도 고스란히 간직하고 있으며 고려시대 때부터 안동대도호부의 관아가 있었으며 안동군청이 있었던 자리로, 일제 강점기 때는 독립운동가를 고문하고 재판하던 옛 안동경찰서가 있었던 아픈 역사의 현장이기도 하다는 설명이다.
현재는 시민들의 안식처인 웅부공원과 함께 영가로365 태극기거리는 역사의 생생한 현장이자 안동의 중심지로서 안동의 과거와 현재를 고스란히 느낄 수 있는 최적지로 손색이 없으며 또한 영가로365 태극기거리를 안동을 대표하는 특화거리로 만들고자 중구동 주민자치회는 영가로에 있는 공동주택 벽면에 태극기 벽화를 그려 넣어 활기를 불어넣을 계획도 알렸다.
이와함께 4월 즈음에는 영가로 주변에 주민들과 함께 안동무궁화를 함께 식재하는 행사를 통해 선열들의 희생정신을 기리고 태극기거리의 아름다움을 대내외에 홍보할 예정이다.
아울러 중구동 관계자는 “안동에 여행할 기회가 생긴다면,『영가로365 태극기거리』를 방문하여 100여 년 전 이 거리를 가득 메웠을 선열들의 자유와 희망에 대한 굳센 의지를 느껴보길 권한다”라며 “이와 함께 인근에 있는 웅부공원, 태사묘, 임청각, 고려의길, 신세동 벽화마을, 문화의거리, 음식의거리 등을 둘러보며 안동만이 가진 전통과 현대 문화의 조화로운 매력에 빠져보길 바란다”라고 전했다.
'영가로365 태극기거리'로 명명하고 결국에는 안동무궁화를 심겠다는데 그렇게 많은 태극기를 휘날리게 해야 태극기거리가 되고, 안동무궁화를 꼭 그렇게 심어야 태극기 거리가 완성이 되며 그렇게 되면 볼거리가 생겨 안동을 찾는 관광객은 물론 시민에게 긍지와 의식을 고취 시킨다는 안동시와 관계자들에게 쏟아질 "도대체 안동시는 돈 들여 도심지를 복잡하고 불편하게 만드는데, 이것도 저것도 못하게 만드는 다른 이유가 있지 않나? 돈이 생기기에 그런 것 아니냐?"는 항변을 감당할 수 있을지 걱정이 앞서는데 정말 문제 없나?
일찍이 경북온뉴스에서는 시민 광장이 없다고 안동시와 각 부서에 제언을 했었다.
시민이 함께 어울려 축제와 행사는 물론 여론 광장으로 사용할 수 있도록 애초에 잘못 조성된 영가로의 조형물 등을 걷어 치우고 대로를 만들어 주었으면 했었다.
구도심이 활기가 넘치고 구시장 상권활성화를 간절히 바라는 밤 문화를 조성하기에 포장마차나 야시장이 형성되기에 묘수를 찾아보자고 했는데 민선 시장이 바뀌면 달라지지 않을까 했는데 '전형적인 예산낭비 사례'로 두고두고 오명을 얻지 않을까 싶다.
여기서 저기서 "안동시민이 바보지, 불쌍하지 뭐!"라는 여론을 흘러 듣지 않았으면 한다.

In addition, around April, the government plans to plant Andong Mugunghwa with residents around Yeongga-ro to honor the spirit of sacrifice of the ancestors and promote the beauty of Taegeukgi Street at home and abroad.
"If you have a chance to travel to Andong, I recommend you to visit Yeongga-ro 365 Taegeukgi Street and feel the strong will for freedom and hope that filled the street more than 100 years ago," a Jung-gu-dong official said. "At the same time, I hope you will enjoy the modern culture."
It will be named Yeongga-ro 365 Taegeukgi Street and eventually plant Andong Mugunghwa, but if you plant Andong Mugunghwa like that, the Taegeukgi Street will be completed, which will create attractions and inspire pride and consciousness to tourists and citizens. Earlier, Gyeongbuk On News(경북온뉴스) suggested to Andong City and each department that there was no citizen square.
